Check It: Foreign Flicks
I know, it’s summertime and I’m not supposed to sit inside watching tv. However, today was cloudy and disappointing in the beach weather department. I watched “Mostly Martha” and thought I’d share a few other foreign movies that have been recent favorites.
P.S. Most of these are available for free on Amazon Prime in case that’s your thing.
The Women on the 6th Floor: Dysfunctional rich couple hires a new Spanish maid and the husband is drawn into the decidedly more colorful world of the maids who also live in his building.
Mostly Martha: Uptight German uber-chef has her neurotic world turned upside-down when her orphaned eight year-old niece comes to live and a handsome Italian chef challenges her to think differently.
I Am Love: The much-lauded Italian film (I’m a regular United Nations today!) features Tilda Swinton, gorgeous costumes and settings, and all kinds of mid-life crisis drama.
My Best Friend: I haven’t seen this one yet but Conor recommends it to all of you. Lonely French guy forges an unlikely friendship with a trivia saavy cab driver. Sounds like the stuff of greatness.
Romantics Anonymous: For some reason, I can handle adorable romantic comedies when they come with subtitles. Two equally timid chocolate lovers find each other and wonder if the other will ever figure it out.
What about you guys? Any subtitled faves I should add to my watchlist?
