Follow-Updates

For those of you who know me, this won’t come as a surprise…but, I have more to say. Therefore, this is a follow up/update (follow-update) post for some posts I have written in the past few months.

First of all, thank you so much to all of the people who donated any amount to our friend Dena who is fighting breast cancer. Hundreds of people, friends and strangers alike, donated to help her with her medical bills through her StandBuy page. She had set a goal to raise $10,000 in about 5 weeks and I think it’s pretty damn awesome that she raised $8536! Since she started the fundraiser, she’s learned more about her diagnosis, switched treatments, moved to a new apartment and she’s got hair growing back. I see only positive things for Dena from here on out and I’m so glad this community was able to help with that a little bit. She recently posted this on her blog, which I love:

Another thing that my inner girlie girl has been compelled to share is how much I love 3 (technically 4) new products I’ve been using (p.s. this is an update for my post about my Top 5 Beauty Products .)

1. Korres Lip Butter Glaze – mine is actually the Raspberry tint, and it feels so silky without being sticky and the color is just spot on. Word to the wise – the color of the packaging isn’t all that true to the actual color of the product.

2. Organix Biotin & Collagen Root Boost Spray- I just started using this the other day and I’m sold. My hair is fine, so if I blow dry it straight, it tends to fall flat pretty quickly. Spray this stuff right at the roots and let it dry a little, then tousle away. Result: anti-flatness. It smells like a dream too!

3. Bare Minerals Foundation and Bronzer – I started wearing this foundation shortly after I wrote my Top 5 post and I am completely converted to a Bare Minerals girl. The first time my roommate, Arianna saw me wearing it, she called me “Barbie Face”…and I liked it. They say the minerals are good for your skin, so it’s no biggie if you don’t wash your face before bed….not that I ever don’t do that….?

In other news, did you know that, thanks to my friend Natasha, the creator of Songza read my post about how much I love Songza??? I posted it to her Facebook wall, she posted it to his wall, he thanked me for the kind words and I got to thank him right to his virtual face for making my favorite iPhone app. It was beautiful.

My new favorite playlist is called Desert Sunset. The description reads, “Go west and watch the desert sun set to the sounds of red hot synth pop and retro California cool” and that is just what it is. The playlist introduced me to my new favorite song, “California Sunrise”. It might be your new favorite too:
