Interior Inspiration: What TV?
I was talking to a friend the other day who has also bought a house recently. In trying to figure out the arrangement of their living room, her boyfriend mentioned that he wouldn’t mind coming up with a way to downplay the TV’s placement. Cheers for not falling into the man cave stereotype, sir.
I have a love/hate relationship with my TV too. I wish I could get rid of it all together sometimes but then, the new season of Homeland starts and suddenly, the cable bill doesn’t seem quite as heinous to me. That doesn’t mean that I want it to be the center of attention though. In the spirit of sharing, I rounded up a few smart examples of rooms that strike a good balance between functionality and style when it comes to the old idiot box.
Barn door hardware. So hot right now. While this requires a significant amount of space and construction, it’s still a great idea. That window treatment? Maybe not so much.
The gallery wall is another popular trend right now and it’s a great place to hide a TV. Surrounding your set with framed artwork helps it blend in and be less of a focal point.
This one combines the gallery wall look with tall shelving to take your eye upwards and away from the TV. It’s also helpful that the room continues on past the TV on either side.
This one might be my favorite. The bold, dramatic wallpaper makes the TV disappear and I love it. Go big or go home.

Yay!! Thanks for this!!
