Interior Inspiration: London Townhome
In honor of the Olympics, I wanted to share a space in London with you all today. Kit and Tim Kemp’s London townhome surprises me in the way it combines a sort of urban sophistication with country comfort – all in the best sense of style. It’s not modern and austere, nor is it overly English countryside. It’s a great meshing of city meets traditional meets eclectic fun.
I love the combination of patterns – the large floral couch paired with the striped one. Moroccan-style side tables flanking the fireplace topped with gorgeous mirrors. It’s busy, but it feels refreshing and light, too.

The best part about his room is the bright, unapologetic splash of color in such a calm neutral space. Those vaulted ceilings aren’t too shabby either.
More masterful mix of color and pattern. I love the very regal, very English lit feel of the old hardcovers broken up by the very bright and fun stripes of that yellow chair. Plus, the combination of that funky fabric on a more traditional chair shape is genius.
This is perhaps the most English feeling room of the townhome. However, the toile is tempered in such an unexpected way by the zebra rug and dark table. The splash of color from the flowers offers the perfect break from the black and white color palette.
Finally, the entry way. First up, how amazing is that door?!?! But also, I chose the entrance for last because this room best embodies the spirit of the Olympics. The commode is from Italy, the mirror from Scandinavia, and the beehive is French. It just goes to show you that life really is more beautiful when we celebrate all cultures.
