A Teensy Break And Some Things To Carry You Through…
In the spirit of The Fourth of July, or, The Most Decent Day Of The Year for those who are in the know, the ladies and I are taking a little break from posting for the rest of the week. Depending on your work situation, having a holiday in the middle of the week is either a blessing or a curse. Some of you get to take a couple days off that will make you feel like a real human being, while some have to tone it down Wednesday so you don’t hate life quite so much when you clock in Thursday morning. I’ll keep my camp to myself and leave you with a few things to carry you through to Monday when we come back with our usual line-up of wit and inspiration.
Does anyone else remember this VW ad? It kind of sums up how I always wanted my summer nights to be like in high school. Granted, some of them were but, I always thought that driving around at night, stargazing, and being introspective while listening to music that the herd didn’t know about yet was the epitome of cool.
I finally got my ass in gear and downloaded Spotify. Only took me three months. What is wrong with me? As soon as I figured out how to stop it from sharing my every move on Facebook, I was off to the races. That being said, playlists always make me feel like I’m either 16 again and all angsty or, 20 and a know-it-all college junior who was convinced that a great dance party mix could save the world.
Here’s my current summer playlist for when you want to feel a little rebellious, sneak out of your parent’s house and cruise around way past curfew. Just remember to draw straws on who’s going to be the designated driver (not that I drank in high school, Mom).
Maybe I’m the only one who equates Independence Days with late shifts at my summer job driving boats around and sneaking off with my friends post-fireworks to salvage some of the night for ourselves? Too moody? I have just the happy post-beach, pre-happy hour mix you’re looking for while you’re trying to decide if your salty beach hair is cute or ratty and, if you’re me, whether there’s anything to make you look less like an unevenly cooked lobster after some less than stellar sunscreen application. And yes, it features Flo Rida. Talk about a song that sounds good in the new whip…
Yes, it’s a little all over the place but, so am I after too much sun.
Get out there people and enjoy the summer before it’s too late. Between negotiations over our potential home purchase, packing, and realizing that most of our weekends are planned now through September, I feel like it’s already over. Time to slow it all down.

i LOVED the pink moon ad! So happy that you brought it back
