Trending: Arm Parties
I realize that the “arm party” trend isn’t exactly hot off the presses – I always pick up on the best trends a little late. (Have you guys heard that song “We Are Young“???) In case you missed it, wrists everywhere are being adorned with stacks of DIY and store bought bracelets and bangles in leather, mixed metals, plastic and embroidery thread in every color of the rainbow.

If you’re interested in hosting an arm party, I’d suggest starting out with one bracelet or bangle that you really love and use it as your inspiration. You might like to think of this bracelet as the frontman and allow the rest who join to be back-up singers. Definitely try to mix up materials and colors while maintaining a clean color palette.
My personal arm party is in the early stages…patiently waiting for more guests to arrive. Since this photo was taken, 5 more recycled Flip Flop bracelets have joined the party. A beautiful foreign guest – a mint green leather and gold hook bracelet - will be arriving in the mail from Australia’s Wanderlust + Co. in a few weeks!
I’m in love with these simple plastic bracelets, and since we carry them at the store where I work, I honestly have to stop myself from adding more every day. They are made in Mali, Africa and the proceeds go toward education programs and feeding the hungry in their communities. The only place I’ve found that you can order them online is Paper Source for less than a dollar a piece! Unfortunately, you miss out on creating your own sweet color combos when you order online, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers.
Alex & Ani is anoter great source for all of your arm party needs. They offer a seemingly endless assortment of metal bangles with charms as well as beaded options. So many options, in fact, that I’ve heard the girls at the headquarters in Rhode Island wear them all the way up their arms!
I am a big fan of the Feather Bangle in Russian Gold. It feels good on, and the color has dulled to be more brass than gold, which I like. I love the adjustability of their bangles and I even like the tiny charms that carry their logo and a recycle symbol that are found on all of their pieces. I definitely need more of these.
