WHAT: An art installation called “Tight Spot” - a 48′ x 20′ inflated globe stuck in the confines of the defunct rail structure and includes a looping soundtrack of him making sound effects meant to be “both natural and industrial”
WHERE: under NYC’s High Line park
WHEN: September 16, 2011 to October 1, 2011*
WHY: Obvious reasons. Leave it to David Byrne to take a somewhat humorous perspective on a serious subject and simultaneously make a political statement most sane people can’t really argue with, all the while making it an enjoyable experience for all.
*Yes, this happened in the past and was the only art installation ever to inhabit this space.
