Wedding (Guest) Season

I’m so excited with all the submissions we’ve gotten so far for the Instagram Challenge!  Be sure to check it out if you didn’t see Jessie’s post on Friday.  Keep them coming as you have until Thursday to tag them with #tlac and #home before we post the winner on Friday.  Tell your friends!

The season is upon us.  Conor and I are invited to three weddings this summer and while I’m excited for all of them, it’s becoming a bit of a bitch to keep track of all the logistics.  Evening wedding in Boston, afternoon wedding in Maine the next day, back to Maine in August. Hotel for one, staying with friends for another.  Who’s registered where?  Shower gifts, Bachelorette parties, carpooling.  Is it weird to say that it’s easier being the bride who’s doing the inviting rather than the one being invited?

I’m certainly not an old pro at attending weddings and I still get the feeling that I don’t really do it right.  It’s not like I don’t have any manners, (I was raised correctly for God sake) it’s just that I always feel like I should be sitting at the kid’s table or in the back helping to clean up.  I’m more comfortable when I have a job.  Thanks for passing that trait on, Mom.

First of all, I’m trying to figure out what to wear without breaking the bank but still looking like I’ve learned to clothe myself in the past 30 years.  I’m vain enough that I don’t want to wear the same dress over and over again, but frugal enough that it would be silly to buy three new dresses when I have a few in my closet.  Enter accessory musings and fun hair styles.

I’m still into big crazy necklaces in well, a big way.  Without trying to sound like I know what I’m talking about, I think they’re a fun way to freshen up an outfit that you’ve worn before and make it feel special.  There are so, so many great ones out there but I tried to pick ones that were within the price range I’m willing to pay.  You know, less than a new dress, more than the price of a couple cocktails.

I’m still happy that I chopped my hair off a few months ago but I didn’t account for the fact that it wouldn’t be long again by the summer time.  I kinda want to keep growing it so aside from a little trim, I need to work with what I’ve got.  That goes for skills too.  I’ll probably just blow dry it straight like usual but the site I just found give me a little hope.

You may have seen images from The Small Things Blog on Pinterest but she also posts videos!  Even though I accepted the fact that I would never have easy breezy waves in my hair a long time ago, I was really impressed with how simple Kate made things seem for straight hair too.  Check them out here!

Can anyone weigh in on what the cool kids wear over dresses these days when things get a little chilly?  Shawls make me feel like I’m going to prom and I wear cardigans at work all the time so they make me feel blah.  I think East Side Bride would vote for biker jackets.  Thoughts?
