Instagram Weekend: New Digs and Rustic Influences

Today’s post comes from our friend and loyal reader Caitlin.  She’s settling back into New England life after grad school in Manhattan and is now commuting to work in Boston from Cambridge where she lives with her boyfriend, A. Be sure to check her out over at Cantabridgette where she documents her love of cooking, baking, and her adventures at home and around Boston.  So happy to have you Caitlin!

Moving into our new apartment on April 1 took only a few hours (thanks to parents with large vehicles and a half mile distance between old and new) but getting completely settled is a longer task. I’ve loved putting our home together with a mix of interesting but affordable new finds and long-loved hand-me-downs from family. My favorite of the latter group is an antique table I’ve turned into my kitchen island. It doubles the counter space and I love being able to move quickly between the pantry, sink, and stove with the island as a pivot spot. It also makes a great backdrop for process photos of cooking!

Our Easter weekend involved lots of nesting, cooking, and a quick visit to A’s relatives’ summer house on Lake Winnipesaukee. I covet that kitchen and the style of our guest room. The gorgeous Hudson’s Bay Point  blankets were the perfect uniting element for the room’s rustic lake camp decor.
